How Long Do You Need in Turkey for Dental Treatment? Trip Length by Procedure (2026 UK Guide)

Before anyone asks about price, they usually ask their employer for time off. And the honest answer to “how long do I need in Turkey?” is that it depends entirely on what you are having done. A veneer case can be finished in five working days. A full implant case cannot be finished in one trip at all, no matter what a headline advert says. This guide gives realistic trip lengths for every common treatment, a day-by-day itinerary, and the booking mistakes that cost UK patients an extra flight.

Trip length at a glance

TreatmentTripsDays in Turkey
Teeth whitening12 to 3
Composite bonding13 to 4
Veneers or crowns (E-Max, zirconia)15 to 7
Full smile makeover, 20 to 28 units16 to 8
Root canal plus crown15 to 7
Single implant, staged23 to 4, then 5 to 7
All-on-4 or All-on-6 per jaw25 to 7, then 5 to 7
Implants needing a bone graft or open sinus lift2 to 34 to 5, then 5 to 7, sometimes a third

Note the pattern: anything that is only about the visible tooth surface is a one-trip job. Anything anchored in bone is a two-trip job. That single rule explains almost every timeline question people ask us.

Why crowns and veneers fit into one week

With veneers and crowns, the lab work is the bottleneck, not your body. The sequence is consultation and scan, then preparation and temporaries, then two to three days while the lab mills and stains your units, then a try-in, then the final fit and bite adjustment. On-site labs in Antalya are the reason this compresses into a working week rather than the three or four weeks it typically takes in the UK.

Do not book the tightest possible schedule. The try-in appointment exists precisely so that shade or shape can be changed, and if you want a change you need a day in hand for the lab to make it. Patients who fly home on the evening of the fit appointment are the ones who end up living with a shade they were not sure about. Our smile makeover guide walks through the try-in stage in detail.

Why implants cannot be done in one trip

An implant has to fuse to bone. That process, osseointegration, takes three to six months and there is no way to accelerate it. So a standard implant case is:

  • Trip one, 3 to 5 days: CBCT scan, any extractions, implant placement, temporary crown or denture, review before you fly.
  • Three to six months at home, healing. You are wearing temporaries and living normally.
  • Trip two, 5 to 7 days: uncovering, abutments, impressions, lab work, try-in, final fit.

You will see clinics advertising “same-day implants”. That is not a shortcut around healing. It means immediate loading: a temporary bridge fitted on the day so you are not toothless, with the permanent one still months away. It is a real technique in the right case, and our guide to same-day implants, myth and reality sets out when it is safe and when it is marketing.

If the scan calls for grafting, add a stage. Our bone grafting and sinus lift guide explains which grafts add a trip and which do not.

A realistic seven-day veneer itinerary

DayWhat happens
Day 1Arrive, airport transfer, hotel check-in, rest
Day 2Examination, panoramic X-ray and CBCT if needed, digital smile design, plan and price confirmed in writing
Day 3Preparation and impressions, temporaries fitted
Day 4Free day, lab is working
Day 5Try-in: shape, shade and bite checked, changes requested
Day 6Final cementation and bite adjustment
Day 7Final check, aftercare briefing and paperwork, fly home

The free day is not padding. It is the lab day, and it is the reason a five-day booking so often turns stressful.

How many days off work do you actually need?

For a veneer or crown case, most people take the full week off. You are not unwell, but you will have appointments on most days and you will be wearing temporaries. For implant trip one, take the week: extractions and surgery mean two or three genuinely uncomfortable days.

Back in the UK, most desk-based patients return to work the day after landing following crown work, and after two to three days following implant surgery. Physical jobs need longer after surgery. Our week-by-week recovery guide is the honest version of what each stage feels like.

Booking mistakes that cost an extra trip

  • Booking a non-changeable return flight. If the lab needs an extra day, a fixed cheap fare becomes an expensive problem. Pay for flexibility.
  • Arriving on a Friday. You lose the weekend before treatment starts and pay for two extra hotel nights.
  • Treating the last day as a treatment day. Keep the final morning for checks and paperwork, not for the fit itself.
  • Booking a five-day trip for a 28-unit makeover. There is no try-in slot in five days, and try-in is where you get the smile you actually wanted.
  • Assuming implants and crowns can be combined into one visit. They cannot, and any clinic that says otherwise is quietly planning to fit temporaries and call it done.
  • Not confirming who the treating dentist is on each day. Continuity matters more than most patients realise.

Planning the trip itself

Antalya is roughly four and a half hours from most UK airports, with direct flights from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin. Summer is cheapest to fly into for schedules but hottest for recovery; spring and autumn are the comfortable windows. Bring your medication list, any recent X-rays, and travel insurance that does not exclude planned treatment abroad.

Before you commit to any dates, work through our 10 things to check before choosing a clinic and confirm what your package deal actually includes, including how many hotel nights are covered if the plan runs a day long.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get veneers in Turkey in 3 days?

Technically some clinics will try, but it means removing the try-in stage and rushing the bite adjustment. For a small case of two to four units it is possible. For a full smile makeover, five to seven days is the honest minimum.

Do I need two trips for dental implants in Turkey?

Yes, in almost every case. The implant must fuse with bone over three to six months before permanent crowns can be fitted. One-trip implant advertising nearly always means temporary teeth, not finished ones.

How long between the two implant trips?

Usually three to six months. Lower jaw cases tend to be at the shorter end because the bone is denser; upper jaw and grafted cases at the longer end.

Can I have a holiday at the same time?

For crown and veneer trips, yes, around the appointments, though you should avoid alcohol and hard food while wearing temporaries. For implant surgery trip one, no. Plan to rest, avoid sun and swimming for the first few days, and treat it as a medical trip.

What if I need more time than planned?

A good clinic will tell you before you book if your case is likely to overrun, and will say in writing who pays for extra hotel nights. Ask that question at quote stage, not at the airport.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely life-changing experience – I cannot recommend Amazing Smiles highly enough! From the moment I stepped off my flight in Antalya, I was welcomed by the lovely, smiling Kadir – our dedicated driver who looked after me so carefully across both my trips. He was always on time, warm and kind, making every journey between the hotel and clinic completely stress-free.As someone who is usually very nervous and finds dentists extremely difficult, I was so anxious about this whole process – but Dr Gamze changed everything. She is an exceptional dentist: so gentle, patient and understanding, never rushing me and taking all the time I needed to feel at ease. Her wonderful assistant Humaira was equally amazing – so thoughtful and attentive, I simply cannot thank her enough. Then there is Alina – quite simply the best coordinator anyone could wish for. She looked after me with such care, explained every single step in perfect English, and made sure I understood every detail of my treatment plan. Watching how she looked after other patients too, with the same kindness and professionalism, showed me how special this whole team really is.My journey has spanned three months: my first visit back in February, then returning home to wait for healing, before heading back recently to finish everything. It felt like no time at all thanks to how well supported I was throughout. I am absolutely delighted with the final result – it is everything I hoped for and more.Thank you to every single person at Amazing Smiles for your kindness, patience and brilliant work. If you have any questions about my experience, or would like me to explain anything in more detail, please do ask – I would be only too happy to help anyone thinking of choosing this wonderful clinic.

I cannot thank the team at Amazing Smile Turkey enough for making my partner and me feel so at home during our journey. It started six months ago when we met Onur in Newcastle. He supported us with weekly updates right until we landed in Antalya. Everything from the hotel to the transfers was incredibly easy. The clinic was pristine, and Dr Tuğçe, dr Gamze gave me 100% perfect care from start to finish— we have truly had the best doctor possible. A special thank you to Aleena, our translator, who stood by us at every step, and to our driver, Kadir. You have changed our lives!
